DUBOIS, Pa. - Lowe's employees are making a difference for pet owners in Clearfield County. Lowe's Heroes, from the store on Commons Drive in DuBois, recently added a dog training park to the Beaver Meadow Dog Park in DuBois. The Heroes program encourages employees to team together, adopt a volunteer project and make a difference. Man pleads guilty in theft of bronze Jackie Robinson statue from Kansas park

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A 45-year-old man pleaded guilty in the theft of a bronze Jackie Robinson statue that was cut off at the ankles and found days later smoldering in a trash can in a city park in Kansas. Ricky Alderete entered the plea during his arraignment Thursday. A judge signed off on it Friday. Authorities arrested him in February, with court records alleging he entered a Wichita home with the intent to kidnap someone as part of an effort to interfere with law enforcement. Read More...

More than three-fourths of Americans view fast food as luxury, survey shows

WASHINGTON (TND) — More than three-fourths of Americans view fast food as a luxury, according to a LendingTree survey published last week. The survey found 78% of consumers cited increasingly high prices of fast food items for their assessment. Limited service meals rose 4.8% over the past year in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) released earlier this month. Half of Americans also viewed fast food as a luxury due to their financial struggles, with 71% of those consumers making less than $30,000 per year, according to the survey. Read More...
