Houtzdale home deemed 'a total loss', says fire chief

HOUTZDALE, Pa (WJAC) — UPDATE: According to the Houtzdale Fire Chief, the house fire that occurred earlier Saturday afternoon at 33 Wall Street has been deemed a "total loss." Thankfully, the two residents that were home at the time were able to get out safely. Fire officials have determined the cause of the fire to be electrical and that it originated in the home's attached garage. The fire chief confirmed that at least 9 or 10 crews responded to the scene and that roads leading to the house are still closed or blocked off as crews continue to clean up. Read More...

investigation underway after shooting at Lehigh County Waffle House

One person is injured after a shooting at a Waffle House in Hanover Township, Lehigh County Sunday morning, state police say. According to a press release, state police were dispatched to the Waffle House on Airport Road at approximately 3:00 a.m. for a report of a shooting. State police say that they observed a gunshot victim on scene and provided medical care. The press release states that the victim was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital and treated for his injuries. Read More...

PA woman rescues mystery animal

PITTSBURGH (CNN) — A Pennsylvania woman is being praised for helping rescue an animal in need, but wildlife experts can't quite figure out what the critter actually is. Is it a dog, a coyote or something completely different? “I wasn't quite sure but its behavior, it was scared, and it was cold and all I could think about was this animal needed help,” says Christina Eyth. She says she saw paw prints outside her door in Fairfield Township earlier this week, thinking it could be her neighbor’s loose dog. Read More...
